Meet the Artist
Tiffany Bree Syas is a Los Angeles–based artist whose work explores themes of identity, community, and vulnerability. Working primarily in drawing and painting, Syas creates narrative works inspired by her community, using portraiture, color and texture to tell stories about herself and those around her. Syas believes that sharing one's story is not just for oneself, it is also for the healing, learning, and growth of others. Through her bold vibrant color palette, she hopes people have an initial positive reaction to her work. Syas operates a small business through which she works with children as a face painter and caricature artist. There she has the privilege of routinely bringing joy to others through her art. Also, while witnessing the whimsy of children she is constantly reminded to be unapologetically imaginative.
Syas received her BFA from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. Her work has been exhibited and published throughout Southern California. She has participated in a number of Los Angeles group exhibitions including MOCA Teen Night at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Grand Ave, Underground Youth at the WUHO Gallery on Hollywood Blvd, Ryman Arts Graduating Student Show at The Reef, Crossing Boundaries: Engendering LGBTQ Identities at Avenue 50 Studio in Highland Park, and The Gallery at Azusa Pacific University. Her art has also been featured in The West Wind Literary Magazine in both the 2017-2018 and the 2018-2019 publications, as well as the Pomona Valley Review Literary Arts Journal Issue 12 in 2018.
